Charcoal Drawing Great For Portrait Drawing

In this tutorial, we will learn how to draw a portrait with a charcoal pencil. You can use a paper to protect the drawing from accidental smudging.

Charcoal is perfect for hitting those really dark areas. The advantage of charcoal is that it is not glossy as graphite when you go really dark with it, and you can get the darkest values really easily with charcoal. However, it is more prone to smudging.
